Frequently asked questions and trouble shooting

Question: Everytimes when I start SecurTray it shows me an error message which says the directory list is damaged, but I have created the directory list correctly in SecurDat.

Answer: The Windows Registry has an option which should always be on: Windows internally uses short file names with a tilde (~) when handling with long file names. Most probably this option is switched off in your Windows Registry, so SecurDat can not distinguish between his configuration files and overwrites them. If you don't want to change your Windows Registry manually, you can use one of the many comfortable Windows configuration programs, for example X-Setup from Xteq Systems (http://www.xteq.com).


Question: I have installed SecurDat Pro 2.x and would like to test the program without limitations for 30 days, as stated in the documentation. But the next day when starting SecurTray it displays the Register dialog and tells me that the trial period is expired!?

Answer: Probably you or another program have changed the system date of your computer. Please make sure that the system date is not changed during the 30 days trial period. So please deactivate also any program which adjusts the system time (over the Internet or over a radio clock) during the trial period.


Question: I would like to register SecurDat, but I don't want to pay by credit card. Is there an other way?
