Backup files
(How to get there: Click the "Red Cross" icon on the SecurDat Toolbar, or on 'Restore files ...' in the SecurDat Options menu).

Now IT happened, and you have to restore one or more files deleted by mistake or in some other way from the backed up files. The basis for the restore in SecurDat is the SecurDat log file (SecurDat.log). So you should have set the Maximally XXXX entries in logfile option in the Global Options dialog to a sufficiently high number (e.g. 10000), for to have a sufficient basis for the restore process.

Red
entries in the Original file and Original directory columns refer to original files which don't exist any more.

Gray
entries in the Backup file and Backup directory columns refer to backup files which don't exist any more. (They are visible only if the filternoback.png button is switched off).

Blue
entries in the Backup file column refer to backup files which are encrypted with the proprietary SecurDat encryption algorithm. (See SecurDat Encryption on the Advanced tab of the Properties dialog).

On the tool bar there are 2 filter buttons which let you reduce the number of displayed files:

filternoback.png With this filter button you can hide all entries from the list where the backup file does not exist any more.

filtercustom.png This filter ist completely configurable. See here for details. You can display the Filter dialog also by right-clicking on any list entry or on a column header: The respective text is then already inserted into the dialog.

restorebuttonenglish.png This button opens the Restore dialog, where you can set some options and start the restore process. This button is enabled only if you have selected at least one list row.
If the selection is inconsistent then a warning is displayed: This is the case if the same original file is present in several selected entries, because in this case a single file would maybe restored from several different backup files, which would make the backup uncontrollable. In this case you should use the Delete feature to delete unnecessary entries from the log file.

deletebuttonenglish.png This button opens the Delete dialog, where you can delete unnecessary items from the log file, and where you also can delete backup files.

restoretooltipsbutton.png With this button you can switch on and off the "Tool Tips" for this window.

helpbutton.png This button lets you open this help page.

The column header labels are self explanatory. You can sort the list as you like by clicking on the column headers. The sorting is 'multiple to the right', t.i. all columns on the right side of a sorted column are also sorted when there are several identical entries in a column. Try it out!

You can call the Windows Explorer context menu for a original file or a backup file if you right-click the list while holding down the Shift key.
